Light bands creep across walls and faces for the whole scene.

Case-file lines type in monospace with a block caret.
shadow-rise
Titles and quotes rise out of the dark, slightly blurred.
lamp-click
The spotlight comes on with a stutter, like a cheap bulb.
stamp-thunk
A rubber stamp slams down with a small frame shake.
smoke-drift
Smoke never stops moving.
blinds-close
Scene change: horizontal slats grow until the frame is black, the scene swaps, they open again.
Sound
Noir jazz: muted trumpet, brushed snare, upright bass walking, smoky saxophone, rain or city ambience; sparse piano stabs on reveals.
Voice
First-person hard-boiled narration: low, dry, deadpan (≈130 wpm), short sentences, wry similes. Keep it affectionate, never parody.
